History My aunt Juanita was a very adept candy maker and would sell her homemade fudge and peanut brittle to the clients in her beauty shop. Each year at Christmas we were inundated with the most delectable treats from Hungarian Cookies, Butter Caramels to Sticky Buns. In the late 90's I began to research the art of candy making, collected my aunts old recipes and began making candies for friends and coworkers whom I used as guinea pigs while perfecting the recipes. In 2007 The Sydney Trading Company was born in Nashville Tennessee - specializing in Fine Confections and Gourmet Dinners. Additionally, we bake from scratch and deliver the finest desserts and treats for any special occasion. On our farm in Lebanon Ohio just north of Cincinnati we grew vegetables in the summer and made Maple Syrup in winter. Being from Appalachian heritage I learned to cook regional cuisine and preserving jams from my mother and grandmother at a very early age. Sunday dinners were always something to behold. Whether it was Chicken and Dumplings or Beef Pot Roast with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, it was all delicious !! In 1998 I apprenticed with two French Pastry Chefs and a Matrinee De Cuisinee and lived in France where I learned French Pastries, Southern French Cuisine and Charcuterie. In 2000 I opened 'The French Bakery' near Cincinnati before returning to Nashville in 2006. I believe in cooking with fresh homegrown ingredients and use them whenever available. I have spent many years collecting and designing just the perfect recipes for our products. The candies and jams we make are the very same recipes my aunt perfected over 60 years ago and a few of my own. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I have.
